Harvard Researchers have built a model to detect clinical depression using Instagram

Will Social Media soon become a reliable tool for psychologists? Researchers from Harvard and the University of Vermont have built a model that can accurately spot signs of clinical depression using data from Instagram. They identified Instagrammers with symptoms of depression by using color/filter analysis, metadata and face detection. A lot of the users that were detected by the algorithm were clinically diagnosed shortly afterwards (Accuracy +/- 70%).
